Institute

The Institute Superior of Medicine and Dermatology (ISMD) began its educational activities on Aug. 8, 2006, with a class of 70 students in Rio de Janeiro. Some months later, in early 2007, the Institute opened classes in Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte. Since then the center has graduated over 800 ISMD students all engaged in their chosen specialty and they are now working different medical centers in Brazil.

Even before working on the learning process, the Institute in partnership with the "Association Friends of the Skin" was already carrying out free medical care to needy communities. Over the past nine years w have joint efforts with others and built a multidisciplinary team. Dermatologists, medical students, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, biochemists, nursing assistants, nurses, physiotherapists, had joined us for the benefit of the poorest population in the state of Minas Gerais. To extend the benefits to more people across the country, it was necessary to organize the efforts on a more orderly fashion.

In Post Graduate "lato sensu", ISMD search to improve skills and training of personnel in the health area, extending its action outside their walls, which showed their potential for community educational programs. Designing projects based on epidemiological surveys key to the development of research in the area, and also the joint work between interested university and Public Health entities for the ongoing academic and scientific improvement.

Today, with their own headquarters very well fitted in Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo, the Institute offers post graduation courses "lato sensu" in Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology Advanced, Endocrinology, Psychiatry, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Occupational Medicine, Clinical Cytology, Pharmaceutical Care and Nursing in Dermatology.
